Welcome

It is with great pleasure that we present a new Qkumba Zoo release!

N3X+

5 songs by Qkumba Zoo – 3 previously unreleased, plus 2 bonus tracks from the 2001 album ‘Butterfly Peepl’ available here…

Qkumba Zoo comprises multi-instrumentalist and composer Owl, and singer-songwriter Levannah, living in Johannesburg South Africa. They create music as a way of tackling the complexities of life, and continue to compose even when not performing or recording.

This mini-album is their third release. The first was their debut album in 1996/7 (entitled ‘B!G’ in South Africa and ‘Wake up and Dream’ internationally). The second was  ‘Butterfly Peepl’ in 2000/2001, (band name contracted to QZoo in honour of their dancer Tziki’s tragic passing).

For several years at the start of this century Sea World used their original hit “The Child (Inside)” to choreograph live whale shows as well as to advertise Sea World in America and the UK (though the band would like it noted that they do not support unnecessary captivity and trained performance of cetaceans and were not consulted on this decision.)

Qkumba Zoo does not currently perform live, and old fans have been known to wonder whatever happened to them. They quite enjoy lurking on the web, watching speculative threads discussing their whereabouts.

Current disguises: Levannah is mostly busy with mothering, while Owl is having fun pretending to be a suit.
